"I have been with this office since befor my 14 year old was born. I lived close to the office and would sometimes visit when my payment was due. When we had our daughter I took out a 10 year term life insurance policy for both my wife and I. My wife had a near fatal heart attack a couple years into the policy leaving her with heart damage requiring medication for the rest of her life. During one of my visits to the office I discussed what my wife went through and her condition. Years went by and the policies came up for rental. A term life will renew automatically with an increased cost without medical information. My first payment was for around $400 per month or approximately four times the cost of the first 10 year term. I called to inquire as to why the cost had increased drastically. I was told my policy went up to $310 while my wife’s has increased to $90 per month. She is seven years younger and being a woman her policy cost less. I requested my policy be canceled and my wife’s be maintained. My next payment was over $220. I called back to ask why the premium was 220% higher than I was quoted. Miguel responded not with an answer but with a question. He asked how is your wife doing staying he heard she was very sick. He knew I could not insure her elsewhere with her condition and would have to continue paying this rate or drop the policy. The rate of my wife’s policy has continued to increase annually and now cost $280 monthly. The original term life was at a fixed cost through the life of the policy. Again I cannot get a straight answer from either Miguel or from State I went elsewhere and obtained the same policy i had with State Farm through another agency for $90 a month. I did have to take a medical exam to qualify."
